This has been a great week and Winter Sports Season for McKay Athletics.

Last weekend we had some wrestlers and a swimmer do some outstanding things at the state level that are unparalleled in school history.

1.       David Rubio – Junior – avenged his 3 overtime loss in the GVC Finals to Landon Davis of Sprague to win a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!  This is only the second individual wrestling state championship in McKay history.

2.       Tess Barnett – Freshman – qualified for the state tournament in Girls’ Wrestling and placed 4th at state.  She is the first female state placer in school history.

3.       Lidiia Buiko – Sophomore –  qualified 15/16 for state in swimming in the 100 yard Backstroke.  She is the first swimmer from McKay to qualify for state since 2002.  Lidia currently holds 3 individual school records, and a 4th as a member of the 200 freestyle relay and broke her own school record at state Friday Friday by 2.75 seconds! to qualify for the state finals Saturday.  She swam an equally fast time on Saturday placing in the top 10 in the state.

4.       Boys Basketball qualified for a play in game this morning.  They will play that game tomorrow, Saturday Night 7:00 at Sunset High School in Beaverton.  Please come and support them as they play to qualify for the state championships in basketball.

If you see these outstanding athletes, please congratulate them for their outstanding success.
