Royal Scot Family,
Today is a very sad day for our community. David Murao, a freshman at our school, has passed away. We’ve been in touch with his family, and in this time of great grief and sorrow, they are appreciative of our school community that is mourning with them. David’s passing is even more difficult with the current restrictions on gatherings and social distance – we wish we could all be together to grieve him as a family. We do have counselors who are standing by and ready to talk to you – you do not have to go through this experience alone. Some of you may get calls from our counselors without reaching out, but if you do want help, please just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You’ll get a call from someone who can help you through this. You can also text teen helpers at the Oregon YouthLine between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. daily by texting “teen2teen” to 839863. You are not alone in this. Your teachers, coaches and other school staff are grieving with you, and we are here to help you. Many of our students in the Pacific Islander community are connected to Ken Ramirez – please know that he is also a helper and will be there for you.
Let us honor David by coming together anyway we safely can in this time of immense sadness.
With profound appreciation for our McKay community,
Principal Rob Schoepper
