At our fourth family night of the year, over 20 families braved the cold and rainy weather to learn about the college and career readiness. Mr. Brooks (College and Career Coach at McKay) presented important information about acceptance and awards letters. Ana and Ellen from Chemeketa’s Trio program shared an important checklist for upcoming freshman that covered housing, placement tests, and support programs on campus. As an additional bonus, volunteers from Western Oregon University’s Unidos club came to support our families as well. A shout out goes to Amber from SKEF helping out our ninth through eleventh graders learn the importance of a portfolio which includes a resume, personal statement, and student highlights. Overall, students and families had access to beneficial information that makes the college journey easier. For more information about scholarships and other important information visit McKay’s College and Career website: https://mckay.salkeiz.k12.or.us/college-career/ . A big thank you goes out to our custodial staff, Jessica Harris, and volunteers for making this event a success.
