McKay Delegates Elected to Office

A group of McKay students attended the YMCA Youth & Government Pre- Leg event on Saturday January 12 at West Salem High School. Our small delegation  represented their measures and themselves in true Royal Scot fashion! Andrew Kalmen and Raquel Marques-Guerrero both ran for office and were elected. Andrew will serve as a committee chair and Raquel will serve as the Clerk of the House when delegations from seven schools meet in February for the mock legislative session at the State Capitol.

Students become members of the House or the Senate and are privileged to use the actual House and Senate Chambers during the session. The measures passed by the youth delegates are presented to our elected Representatives and Senators for consideration during the Oregon Legislature.

The McKay delegation has a long history of distinction with the program and this year will only add to the legacy!

Go Scots!
