The Salem String Quartet, one of the most noted classical music foursomes in the Northwest will be performing in concert on Saturday, October 13th at 7:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Newport. The Quartet will perform with a talented classical music student quartet from Salem’s McKay High School Orchestra.
The Salem String Quart features a uniquely satisfying blend of versatility, inspiration, energy, quality, and experience delivered by four dedicated musicians from three continents. Members include the husband and wife team of Caius and Sigrun Oprea on violin, Brandon Correa on viola and Katherine Parks on cello. All four have played with major orchestras and quartets around the U.S.A. And world. Their program features Boccherini’s Quartet No.5 Op.7 and Dvorak’s “American” Quartet No.12.
Caleb Kaestner, Daisy Cervantes (Violin), Priscila Garcia (Viola) and Adrian Cervantes (Cello) make up the Boulanger Quartet from the McKay High School Orchestra, a consistent top ten student orchestra in the annual state OSAA competition. Their program includes selections from Schuman, Borodin, Bach, Stenhammer and Mendlessohn. The program’s prelude Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G major will be performed by University of Oregon music major Clair Dietz.
