McKay’s Jazmine Liebl was named a member of Statesman Journal All-Mid-Valley Girls Cross Country team. Jazmine a Junior at McKay was recognized as one of the top 7 runners from the entire Mid-Valley area. Congratulation Jazmine we are so proud of you.

Congratulations! McKay Varsity Girls Soccer on your recent sportsmanship nomination. Hi Royal Scots, McKay Athletics would like to celebrate the following teams for qualifying to be Academic All State! These teams of student athletes represent McKay in the classroom and in athletics. We are very proud of them for accomplishing over a 3.0 GPA during their seasons. Bryan Nicolas Lopez Named Salem’s Sports and Breakfast Club athlete of the week

Congratulations to Bryan Nicolas Lopez on being named Salem’s Sports and Breakfast Club athlete of the week. On 10/4 Bryan scored 3 goals and had 2 assists to help McKay beat Bend 7-1. On 10/7 he scored 1 goal and gave an assist to help McKay tie vs Summit, 2-2. On 10/10 he scored one goal to help McKay beat McNary 3-1. Overall in the week he scored 5 goals and had 3 assists!“ Great Job Bryan!

McKay Athlete Named Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Senior Tyler Kynaston for being selected Salem sports and breakfast clubs athlete of the week for this week. Tyler is the Quarter back for McKay’s football team. Tyler helped lead his team to a 42-41 overtime win over Lebanon Tyler was 7-13 passing for 195 yard and 3 touchdowns and carried the ball 24 times for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. “He served as leader on the field and sideline for us.“ way to go Ty!

New Head Football Coach Announced

McKay Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Interim Head Football Coach Brandis Piper. Brandis attended Century High School, and then Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon where he played Football and received his BA in History. During his college football career he received many recognitions and started all 36 game. He spent 4 years at Stayton as Offensive Coordinator and Academic Coordinator, then moved on to Willamette University as Running Backs Coach for 2 years. Brandis also has coaching experience at the high school level in Basketball and Baseball at Century, Stayton, and McKay high schools. Brandis is currently an Instructional Coach and AVID teacher at McKay High School. Brandis is excited to work with McKay’s student athletes describing them as great people, hard workers, and role models. The athletic department is excited for the leadership Brandis and his staff will bring to our kids and community as they teach our three core values of Leadership, Scholarship, and Competitiveness.
