Advanced Ceramics artists were fortunate to have Alejandro Jimenez, a poet and educator, visit and share some incredible and relevant socially minded poetry today. Students were enamored by his art form…and the passionate delivery of his spoken word which infused his personal life experiences and Mexican culture. The timing of this opportunity couldn’t have been more perfect, as these student artists are starting to develop their own concepts for using their ‘visual’ voice to create and communicate a powerful Social Commentary Sculpture.
On another note, it is always exciting how such different programs can come together and merge their superpowers! Here are several fantastic and very professional metals/woods CTE students helping Mrs. B problem solve a support system for a large scale work of art. They have made several visits to consult with her and take measurements as they would with a potential ‘client’. They are working together to design and weld this internal frame from scratch. They will also build a base for its final presentation.
