Hello McKay Community,
Over the past four years, my goal has been to constantly do what is best for all our students and to recognize and build upon their many abilities and talents. It has been a true honor to serve the McKay community as principal.
The purpose of this communication is to let you know that I will not be returning to McKay High School in the fall. Effective July 1, 2021, I will be serving in a district level position supporting teaching and learning K-12. I will be working with schools across the district on learning acceleration opportunities and co-designing programs for students and families most impacted by the pandemic.
I am excited about this assignment and the new challenges it brings in supporting our students in Salem-Keizer. At the same time, I am saddened to be leaving a place I have called home for the past four years. We have done some incredible work together and have seen significant gains in teaching and learning during that time. When McKay opens its doors in the fall, we will have completed a multi-year $55 million bond renovation. Our facility will truly be state of the art and a place for high levels of teaching and learning for years to come.
It has been an honor to serve this community over the years. I have benefited greatly from the experience both professionally and personally. I look forward to investing in my new role, just as I have done at McKay High School.
Thank you again for all the personal and professional support you have provided me over the last several years. The Salem-Keizer School District is a great place to learn and work and I anticipate many more years of working together in supporting our students.
